The theme was songs from the contestant’s year of birth. The first thing I can say about this week’s show is, boy, these people sure are young. Seriously. Let’s see how they did.

Syesha:

I actually liked “If Was Your Woman.” I thought that once she really got in to the song, most of Syesha;s usual pitch problems disappeared, which to me, made this her best performances. All in all, it was a very heartfelt performance.
Brooke:

Brooke is back! I found her cover of “Every Breathe You Take” to be very Tori Amos-y in terms of an acoustic cover of an eighties song. I also love that she started over after making a mistake. I really like her. A lot.
Michael:

I think this was my favorite performance of Michael’s. I kind of wish he had either chosen “We Will Rock You” or “We Are The Champions,” and just sung it well, as opposed to doing a medley, but I thought he sounded very good on both of them. It was everything that David Cook wants to be, but to me seems like an imitation of.
Jason:

I actually really liked Jason’s take on “Fragile.” Jason was not my favorite when the competition started, but he’s really grown on me, and I think I like him more every week. I did agree with the judges that he plays it safe, and needs to take a bigger risk in order to really stand out in the competition.

Carly.

I really love “Total Eclipse of the Heart” as a song. I liked Carly’s version, but I didn’t love it. I also agree with Randy, that the note at the end wasn’t in tune, but I really liked that Paula and Randy got in to an argument as to whether or not the note was in tune.
Kristy:

I really can’t help rolling my eyes when I hear someone sing “God Bless The USA.” I didn’t think Kristy sounded as bad as she has in the past, but I really hated the song choice. I thought some of the big belted notes needed a bit of vibrato, because they were sounding a bit flat.
David C.:

I've hated everything about David for some time now. The fact that he couldn’t come up with his own arrangement of “Billie Jean,” and had to steal someone else’s merely adds to my hatred. I actually didn’t think he sounded bad, but I just hate who he is so much. It also seemed like the judges didn’t hear Ryan say that it was not his own arrangement, because they kept praising his originality. What gives?
Chikezie:

I’ve liked Chikeze a lot since the Top 12 began performing. “If Only For One Night” didn’t really do it for me this week. I thought it was an impassioned performance, but just didn’t move me at all.

David A.:

Maybe it was the song “You’re the Voice,” but I really did not like David this week. It’s not going to matter of course, since David can do no wrong in the eyes of his tween fan-base, but I did not think was a particularly strong performance at all.
Ramiele:

I’ve never been a fan, and her version of “Alone” didn’t do much to change my opinion. The slow parts were a little boring, and the loud parts were out of tune.
Well, I’d guess Ramiele is going to go, but I’ve thought that for several weeks, and it hasn’t happened, so I don’t even know anymore. I’ll see you tomorrow for the results.
